Glaring Contradictions in Sinn Feins Position
The recent debacle in Leinster House regarding the controversial TD Michael Lowry on whether one could be in government and in opposition at the same time created quite a stir.
The opposition led by the leader of Sinn Fein Mary Lou Mc Donald quite rightly highlighted the contradiction in the logic of this position.
However this is not the first time such a scenario arose in Irish politics.
In 1998 under the Good Friday Agreement (GFA) Mary Lou’s party adopted this same position when they accepted British Rule in Ireland and went on to say they opposed it whilst agreeing to administer it in Stormont.
Some might argue there is no contradiction here but even the Sinn Fein leader clearly believes there is when she vehemently opposed this position in Leinster House.
To take this contradiction a bit further Sinn Fein sent their two most senior people, Mary Lou Mc Donald and Michelle O’Neil to speak in Tyrone over Easter.
The Proclamation of 1916 was held high and elevated when she said “the vision of the Irish Republic is captured powerfully in the Proclamation. An Ireland underpinned by civic liberty, economic justice, democracy and equality”.
She referred to Partition and how it divided the Irish people and how the people were treated as second class citizens and continued to laud Michelle O’Neil who is determined “to make politics work for everyone”.
The question again arises on contradictions.
Is there a contradiction in upholding the principles of the Proclamation of 1916 and accepting and administering British Rule in Ireland? In so doing they are criminalising all republicans who gave their lives for Irish freedom.
Here in Tyrone and across the six occupied counties we are still second class citizens and our sovereign rights are violated by the actions of Mary Lou and the Sinn Fein party.
The concept of of the Irish Nation is shredded in favour of asking the foreign government for a border poll to secure our freedom.

There was no vote to divide and partition this great nation why do we need a vote to to unite it. The British Government shoud do the honourable thing and relinguish their illegal sovereign claim. (I wont hold my breath for either).
Sinn Fein are now feeling the pinch of republican opposition across the country and increasingly so in this proud County of Tyrone.
Mary Lou’s rhetorical speech is hoping Tyrone will hear her republican credentials whilst she betrays them in reality.
Sinn Fein are fooling no one, holding up principles in one hand whilst smashing them with the other demonstrates populist politics which will only last so long.
Once you move from a principled stand you can no longer hold up those principles and hope no one sees through the contradictions.
In reality Sinn Fein are no longer a republican party and should get off the backs of our patriot dead to sell their failed position of administering British Rule in Ireland and violating our sovereign rights.
