Belfast Cumann Attend Bobby Sands Picket

Updated: May 7

Yesterday, Sunday 5th May, Belfast 32CSM members attended a vigil and white line picket in rememberance of IRA volunteer Bobby Sands who died on hunger strike 43 years ago on May 5th 1981 in the H Blocks of Long Kesh. The event was organised by the Beechmount 1981 Hunger Strike Commemoration Committee.

Our national anthem Amhrán na bhfiann started the event beside the Hunger Strike mural on the corner of Beechmount Avenue/Amcomri Street. After another song of rememberance those in attendance made their way to the falls road for a white line picket.

Belfast 32CSM wish to thank the committee for extending an invitation.
